2006 — Isfahan Painting Biennial
Isfahan Museum of Contemporary Art
This project emerged through a process of scanning, digital manipulation, photocopying, and reassembling portrait images. Each image was mounted individually, while the overall installation was intentionally left open, allowing different arrangements in different presentations.
An important part of the work took place not in the final image itself, but in the processes of translation, reproduction, and transformation. Scanning, digital processing, and mechanical copying introduced new visual qualities at every stage, creating a distance between the original image and its subsequent versions.
The project was an early exploration of the possibilities offered by different media and of the moment when an image, through repetition and transformation, becomes something other than its source.
